RULES

Rules & Guidelines:   A schedule and your jersey will be distributed at the first game of the season. Players will be notified of their first game via telephone and (sometimes) e-mail.

Game rules:   Typically, Collegiate Rules are followed.  If a team does not have four members present within 10 minutes of the game start time, that team will forfeit. 20 minute halves. 3 full timeouts per team per half. Players foul out after 5 fouls. Teams shoot the bonus free throws after the seventh foul of the half. Double bonus on the tenth team foul. If a player quits in the middle of a game or is ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct, he or she is suspended for the next game.

Clock stoppage rules: For the 1st 10 minutes of each half, the clock only stops for timeouts. After that, the clock stops for shooting fouls. For the last 10 seconds of the 1st half, the clock stops for every whistle. For the last 2 minutes of the game, the clock stops for every whistle with the following exception. For the last 7 minutes, the clock will not stop if the scoring difference is 15 points or greater. Overtimes are 3 minutes, with 1 timeout per team.

Guidelines:   All players (captains exempt) should play at least eight minutes of every half (including playoffs). A present league commissioner must be told prior to the game of any ill or injured players who are suited to play (so that there will be no playing time penalty imposed on your team). The team captains are volunteers, so please appreciate their contributions and support. Your captain can represent your concerns to the referees. In a dispute, two of the commissioners can vote to resolve the issue as can Gym directors Don Franklin and Paul Wilson.

Playoffs:   The top 4 teams qualify for the playoff championships. To seed the teams in the playoffs, win-loss record applies. In case of ties, the tiebreakers are: 1st: Head-to-head victories count first. 2nd: Record against teams above. 3rd: Lower point differential (all games). 4th: Any other ties, after the first 2 tiebreakers, will be settled by a ceremonial coin flip. After the end of the season, the 4th and 3rd place team will play in a consolation game. The top two teams will play for the championship.
